Fast fit outlets may be the first option that springs to mind when a
distress purchase like tyres or a battery forces your hand, but price
comparisons show that you may get a much better deal from the dealer who
supplied your car in the first place.
That is the advice from Vauxhall, which has launched an improved tyre
programme for private motorists through its nationwide UK dealer network.
The buying power of a company the size of GM means that in many instances
Vauxhall dealers can undercut fast fit operations by up to 40 per cent.
The Vauxhall Tyre Programme now sources its supplies through Michelin and
Stapletons, the tyre wholesalers, for all other brands, and a twice-daily
delivery service to Vauxhall dealers has been introduced. This means that
wherever you need help, the right make and size of tyre can be fitted the
same day.
A popular size such as a 175/70R13T Michelin to fit a Vauxhall Astra
costs £47.73 – saving over 40 per cent on the Kwik Fit price, while a
195/65R 15V Michelin for a Vectra comes to £85.90, compared to £97.79 from
Kwik Fit.
Even budget priced tyres comparable with Star and Premier brands show
worthwhile savings and all Vauxhall dealer prices include the tyre valve,
balancing, VAT and old tyre disposal.
For complete peace of mind, it could make sense to take out MasterCover
Tyre Insurance when you have new tyres fitted at a Vauxhall dealer to guard
against future unexpected bills. For just £25 per year it covers all four
tyres plus spare against vandalism or accidental damage and puncture
repairs.
