Staged to celebrate 100 years of
Vauxhall car manufacturing in the UK, the 1000 Mile Trial features a range of
Vauxhall models that span the whole of the Company's history, past present and
future.
The route sets out from Lambeth,
site of the original Vauxhall Iron Works, following a 1000 mile plus circuit
around England, skirting the Welsh border and travelling through Strathclyde,
Lothian and Borders before arriving back at the new Motorbodies Brand Centre in
Luton 12 days later. The route follows a similar path to that taken by
the original 1000 Mile Trial in 1900.
The official cavalcade will have
a limited number of vehicles due to constraints within the town centres being
visited, but nearly 100 vehicles will take part. l
Vehicles will set out on each day's route at one minute intervals, but the
official cavalcade will be gathered together daily at the Start, Lunch and
Finish halts.

THE GRANDFATHER OF THEM ALL .
. . . . . . The oldest of the 65 cars due to drive the full route is a
Vauxhall C-Type "Prince Henry" from 1911 !

The original trial of 1900 was
designed to prove that the then new fangled motor car was the transport of the
future.
ENTHUSIASTS . . . . .
. Classic Vauxhall cars are being shipped from around the
world for the event, with seven coming from Vauxhall Owners' Club of Australia,
three from Switzerland, six from Holland and a couple from Sweden and Denmark,
and there will also be up to ten cars from Vauxhall's Heritage Centre in Luton.
"The trial will be a great
day out for families to come along and see the cars taking part, and will also
be of great interest to classic car enthusiasts", Vauxhall managing
director, Kevin Wale, said.
