Boots opts for Solus Vauxhall agreement in new deal
negotiated by GE fleet services

Vauxhall Motors has been chosen by Boots Group plc as the solus supplier of its essential user company cars in a deal negotiated by GE Commercial Finance, Fleet Services.

The manufacturer will now exclusively supply the 250-strong essential car user fleet with diesel vehicles drawn from across its model range from Corsa to Zafira.

In addition, Boots has also reduced the number of suppliers to its 800-strong user chooser fleet from 15 to six, with Vauxhall among these preferred sources.

For the first time in the corporate sector, Vauxhall is also introducing a planned fleet maintenance package that underwrites all servicing, maintenance and repair costs to provide Boots with known SMR costs over the three-year period of the contract.

The new fleet policy has been drawn up in conjunction with global vehicle leasing and fleet management specialist, GE Fleet Services, which carried out a Key Solutions consultative study of the Boots fleet designed to reduce costs while improving operational efficiency and driver choice. GE Fleet Services will also be funding the vehicles through a special hybrid lease product.

Sarah Hall, Contracts Manager, Business Services at Boots said: "The aim of this exercise was to reduce costs while improving operational efficiency and driver choice. Working closely with GE Fleet Services and Vauxhall, we have achieved this successfully.

"We wanted a range of vehicles for our essential user fleet which met our criteria of driver desirability, safety and competitive but with fixed maintenance costs. Vauxhall fitted the bill, and had the flexibility to offer us the new, fixed cost maintenance package."

Maurice Howkins, Vauxhall and Saab Fleet Sales Director, UK and Ireland, said the new agreement with Boots was testimony to the desirability and versatility of the Vauxhall model range.

"We are delighted to be working with such a respected high street brand as Boots and look forward to meeting their vehicle needs for many years to come. The introduction of the planned maintenance package is a first for us in the fleet market and gives the customer peace of mind over the life of the contract."

Gareth Smith, Strategic Account Manager at GE Commercial Finance Fleet Services, said: "The Key Solutions consultancy exercise that we carried out was very comprehensive, and we are pleased that such a successful outcome has been produced by working alongside the Boots and Vauxhall teams. We believe that this is an excellent fleet solution."

Key Solutions is designed to improve processes, deliver better services, increase productivity and reduce costs. It has delivered savings of between 7-22 per cent for 230 UK fleets since its launch three years ago.
