Hat trick of fleet
awards for Vauxhall

- Vauxhall wins Fleet Manufacturer of the Year Award

- Vectra scoops Estate Car of the Year
VAUXHALL has scored a hat trick of award wins at the prestigious
Fleet Excellence Awards including the top award for Fleet
Manufacturer of the Year.
The new Astra was voted Fleet Car of the Year, while the estate
version of the Vectra won the accolade for Estate Car of the Year.
The Awards were voted for by the 32,000 readers of Fleet Week,
Fleet Management and What Van? Fleet magazines, who
between them annually buy or specify many thousands of company cars
and vans, and were presented at an awards ceremony at a top London
hotel.
Vauxhall’s achievement in winning the Fleet Manufacturer of the
Year award reflected its position as best selling manufacturer in
the fleet market in 2003, and in 2004 the manufacturer again claimed
top spot with fleet sales of 223,058 for a 20.4% market share.
Tristan Young, editor of Fleet Week, said: "It has been
a hugely successful year for Vauxhall, convincingly establishing
itself as the number one fleet seller ahead of Ford. The Luton-based
brand has worked massively hard to win fleet business and that’s
not gone unnoticed by our readers."
The new Astra was voted New Fleet Car of the Year and described by
the judges as a "paradigm shifting" new launch for
Vauxhall. A new sporty three-door version goes on sale in April,
joining estate and powerful 150ps diesel derivatives which were
launched last autumn.
"This is the big one and Vauxhall with its cracking all-new
Astra, has won it. In recent years, it’s been hard to get excited
about Astra but that changed last May and looks set to continue this
spring when the stylish three-door goes on sale," said Tristan
Young.
Completing the triumvirate was the award for Estate Car of the Year
which went to the Vectra estate with its cavernous 530 litres of
bootspace (rising to 1850 litres with the seats folded flat), making
it one of the largest cars in its class.

Special mention was made of
the Flex Organiser system which allows the load area to be divided
up to safely carry smaller items.
"Now with a fantastic range of diesel and petrol engines, and
despite fierce competition, it has clearly won fleet managers’
hearts and minds," said Tristan Young.
Maurice Howkins, Vauxhall and Saab fleet sales director, said he was
delighted to have won three awards and paid tribute to a great
all-round team performance: "Vauxhall is thrilled to win these
three awards which are in recognition of some great new products and
a great effort from a very talented team of people in the last 12
months. We would like to thank our customers and the readers of Fleet
Week and Fleet Management for voting for us," he
said.
